THE BROTHERS OF HOLY CROSS
In November 1959, Rev. Fr. Christopher O’Toole, Superior General, on a visit to India, transferred Bros. Godfrey Danis and Gilbert Boucher to south India. Bro. Gilbert immediately left Mizoram and went to Yercaud where he was entrusted with the coffee plantation which the priests of Holy Cross had acquired a few months earlier.
Bro. Godfrey and Bro. Donald Nadeau (who had been a missionary in East Pakistan for several years) went to south India in January 1960.
After spending a fortnight in Yercaud, they were invited by Bishop Selvanather of Salem to take charge of St. Teresa’s Technical School in Maravaneri, Salem. They stayed in Maravaneri till the beginning of 1962 and then shifted their residence to Kamaraj Nagar Colony on a property that they had acquired a few months earlier and which became the site of the present Holy Cross Matric Higher Secondary School.
